RockTenn (RKT) which makes paperboard and other packaging materials for consumer products, showed up in Stocks On The Move Friday, and also in the current IBD 100 list of top performers. When a stock shows up on multiple screens like that, pay attention. It usually means there's some strength there worth checking into.• RockTenn is a small cap that trades about 548,000 shares per day.• It hails from the Paper & Paper Products industry group, ranked No 30 among IBD's 197 groups. The group has risen in the ranks in the past three months, a good sign of strength.• RockTenn's Earnings Per Share Rating is 98, reflecting earnings growth that's better than 98% of stocks.• The company reported its most recent quarter in late April. Profit grew 55% from the year-earlier quarter.• Sales slowed. They were down 1% from the year-earlier quarter.• You rarely, if ever, find a stock where every single metric confirms strength. No stock or company is perfect, sometimes you will see contradictions even in areas as basic as sales growth vs. earnings growth. Ideally, a CAN SLIM investor would like to see at 25% growth in both areas in recent quarters.
